Prince of Wales’ guesthouse in Viscri reopens to the public. The traditional Saxon house, a UNESCO Heritage site, hosts two new events: the exhibition entitled „Embroidery for a Cause” of the „Semne Cusute” („Sewn Signs”) Association, an event promoting fashion and activism inspired by tradition; and the ceramic artefacts exhibition „The Traditional Roof Coverings – The Restoration Paradigm”. Besides these temporary events, the same location showcases the permanent exhibition ”The Transylvania Florilegium” of art and botanical book.
„Embroidery for a Cause” is a manifest-exhibition offered by the lady members of the „Semne Cusute” (Sewn Signs”) Association. Each of the 20 traditional blouses („IE” in Romanian) is an impressively creative product standing for two contrasting worlds: the haven for biodiversity versus the dramatic and sterile reality brought about by greed, unsustainable exploitation of resources, consumerism and fast-fashion.
„The Traditional Roof Coverings – The Restoration Paradigm” exhibition is a unique representation of the traditional covering of roofs with ceramic elements, both from an ethnographic and architectural point of view, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the field of restoration and rehabilitation of the built heritage.
